SEVEN GOALS IN ONE QUARTER: DAY EIGHTY SIX WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE?
When I was growing my biggest competitor besides myself was my brother for the few years when we used to play together. He never let me win, he pushed my buttons to the max, and always found a way to piss me off big time. It was mostly due to my inner frustrations, living an unbalanced life, and my inner struggle of not enjoying to lose or being teased. It was a short time in our lives, where we would play baseball and soccer together, fight like hell and usually end up with me throwing a fit and cussing him out at the age of 4-6. I had a filthy mouth early with a determined competitive edge to follow which was taught by my brother Patrick not letting me win. We had natural athletic ability and desire to win that aid down a wonderful foundation of aggressive play that would follow me all the way through my athletic career. Even though I was bigger than most the kids my age, I also didn't have any fear of ruffling feathers with anyone. The times mentioned above were spent in the San Bernardino Mountains in the town of Lake Arrowhead where my papa ran the local high school, but as we were forced off the mountain to the seaside town of Newport Beach, I continued my athletic play. I was six years old, it was the fall time, and I was placed on a co-ed (boys&girls) soccer team playing center forward. As the whistle started the beginning of the game I was tapped in, in the zone, on a terror to compete, all that past aggression, losing to my my brother (three years older) was left on the field. I was a dribbling and scoring machine. UNSTOPPABLE. As I shot time and time again past the opponents goalkeeper I could hear the parents of both sides get restless. My mom would later tell me that they were complaining to her, "YOUR SON IS TOO BIG, TOO FAST, SCORING TOO MUCH..." all she could say was that I was the same age as all their kids...Goal after goal after goal was scored and the players on my team were excited to have me on their team as their leader, but as always in youth sports parents can ruin your glory. By the end of the first quarter I scored seven goals and my coach told me that it was enough and stuck me back in the goal. In the goal is where I stayed for my futbol/soccer career where I became a force of nature, an all star, and instead of letting out my anger on goal keepers, I would ferociously come out and take out our opponents forwards and midfielders defending OUR GOAL. So you never know where you will end up in life, so do your best to enjoy your EVERYDAY GLORY UNDER THE SUN- RVB
